PRODUCTS

The sustainability and environmental impact of a product are influenced by a number of factors from design and production to use and disposal. The sustainability of a product is not just material choices, production methods and recyclability. A sustainable product is also functional, easy to use and aesthetic. When assessing a product’s impact on sustainability, we pay attention to its entire lifecycle.

MORE SUSTAINABLY MANUFACTURED PRODUCTS

We want to offer our customers an extensive selection of more sustainable products. We are constantly seeking to grow our selection with products that aim to reduce the environmental impact of their design and production in various ways. The means of reducing negative impact vary highly by product and range from material choices to innovative product and service solutions.

SUSTAINABLE CONSUMPTION

Not all sustainability impacts of a product are defined during the product design or manufacturing phase only. Even when the product is in use, there are opportunities to influence its environmental impact. A sustainable product is used regularly and has a long service life.

PRODUCT PACKAGING

We also pay attention to the packaging of our products. The main purpose of the packaging is to safeguard the product during transportation and handling. In addition to this, the consumer packaging helps with decision-making through the information, instructions and labeling on it. We constantly seek to ensure that suitable amount and quality of the packaging materials is used. When possible, we try to replace the packaging materials with less harmful and more easily recyclable ones. To make waste sorting easier, almost all our packages include instructions for recycling.

PRODUCER RESPONSIBILITIES

Producer responsibility (also known as extended producer responsibility, EPR) is a legal obligation under the Finnish Waste Act. It requires manufacturers, importers, distance sellers and packers of all packaging and certain products to arrange and finance the waste management of the packaging and products they place on the Finnish market once the products reach the end of their life.

In practice, producer responsibility makes recycling straightforward and accessible for consumers by ensuring that collection and recycling systems are in place in society.

Tammer Brands is producer responsible for packaging and products placed on the Finnish market. In other markets, producer responsibility rests with the local importer, which is Tammer Brands' export customer, in line with national EPR legislation. Direct sales to EU consumers would make Tammer Brands producer responsible under the applicable national rules.

In Finland, Tammer Brands implements its statutory producer responsibility obligations through joining producer responsibility organizations covering the relevant categories: waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE/SER), batteries and accumulators, paper, packaging and packaging waste, as well as SUP packaging and SUP productsIn this way, the endoflife waste management is organized within the circular economy system, allowing materials to be returned to circulation through the producer responsibility systemInformation on our producer responsibility organization memberships is provided to our customers through the Tammer Brands General Terms and Conditions of Sale.

The Waste Management Compass service (only in Finnish and Swedish) makes it easy to check whether a Finnish company has fulfilled its producer responsibility obligations.
